Arjun Kapoor was born on 26 June 1985 in Chembur, Mumbai. He studied till twelfth grade at Arya Vidya Mandir school in Mumbai. After failing in his twelfth grade examinations, he stopped his studies.
Before making his debut as an actor, he has worked as assistant producer and assistant director in few films like Shakti : The Power, Kal Ho Naa Ho and Salaam-E-Ishq. Prior to acting, Kapoor aspired to become a director.

Arjun Kapoor began his career as an assistant director for Kal Ho Naa Ho in 2003 and then as an associate producer for No Entry (2005), which was followed by Wanted (2009) starring Salman Khan and Ayesha Takia. He has also co-produced the fim Milenge Milenge (2010) which starred Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.
He is an alumni of the Asian Academy of Film and Television. Arjun believes that it was Salman Khan who made him what he is today, from being an overweight guy to being a successful young prospect in the filmdom.
